About ACOR

The Australian recycling industry is one of our country's growth industries, supporting a more sustainable economy, whilst directly employing over 20,000 people and indirectly creating almost 35,000 jobs. The industry consists of hundreds of businesses, including some of the Australia's largest companies, involved in the collection, sorting and processing of recovered materials for re-use. Whether in the home, the office or the factory, recycling is a part of everyday life, with more than 95% of Australians recycling.

ACOR is a non-profit volunteer organisation. Members commit their time, resources and energy to leading the transition to a circular economy through resource recovery, remanufacturing and recycling.

ACOR's Vision
  • An Australian circular economy where resource recovery, remanufacturing and recycling are central to generating economic and social value, while improving the health of our environment.

ACOR's Mission
  • As the pre-eminent peak industry forum, ACOR will lead the transition to a circular economy through the resource recovery, remanufacturing and recycling supply chain.

ACOR's Purpose
  • Policy and engagement that drives the agenda for resource recovery, remanufacturing and recycling
  • A network that inspires dialogue, information exchange, relationship building and leadership
  • Championing progress and achievements of Australia’s resource recovery, remanufacturing and recycling sector

ACOR's Policy Priorities
  1. Strong end markets and an integrated supply chain to support a thriving competitive recycling market and embed recycled content in procurement
  2. An aligned and supportive regulatory environment to harmonise alignment between environmental policies and circular economy principles
  3. Product stewardship to ensure distributors and producers are responsible for the end-of-life of products brought into the Australian market
  4. Consumers who know how to 'recycle right' to (re)build consumer confidence and knowledge base in recycling correctly
