  Norstar

NSR provide a total scrap metal service. This includes the availability of various size containers and vehicles to satisfy the markets needs. Transport is facilitated on a subcontract basis via companies such as Calleja Transport and Transwest Haulage who operate specialized vehicles for this niche market. Other cartage subcontractors are utilised where necessary to meet specific needs particularly in regional areas.

The employment of dedicated transport experts enhances NSR’s customer service capability by ensuring that pickups of scrap metal are performed in a timely and efficient manner. Collections can be organised by calling a toll free number or by pre booking a regular servicing system where required.

Scrap metal is collected from a wide range of industries and an extensive country dealer network. Once processed, it is sold to either the domestic or export markets. As well as processing a large volume of ferrous materials, NSR recycles non-ferrous scrap such as aluminium, brass, copper, stainless steel, etc.

NSR has serviced the scrap metal needs of many of Australia’s largest manufacturers, including the Ford Motor Company, Toyota Motor Corporation and Holden Ltd.

It’s head office located at Laverton on a 37 acre site where the company has a multi million dollar investment in plant and equipment, including:

  • A Lindemann 1250h.p shredder capable of fragmentizing complete car bodies, whitegoods, roofing iron, sheet steel off cuts etc. at the rate of 30 tonnes per hour.
  • A Lindemann 1250tonne shear for processing heavy steel sections, including RSJ’s, plate, railway line, steel reinforcing, farm machinery etc, at the rate of 35 tonnes per hour.
  • A state of the art Eddy Current system to automatically separate non ferrous metals (currently under construction)
  • A new 4000h.p shredder (under construction) capable of fragmentizing at the rate of 120 tonnes per hour

NSR strives to provide a service that is second to none in the scrap metal industry. Its mission is to meet or exceed customer expectations. This is achieved by major investments in state-of-the-art plant and equipment, adherence to sound environmental management and work practices, and employing and training the best people in the industry. A management team dedicated to ensuring that NSR grow its market share in a competitive and mature industry complements this.

NSR is a member of the Australian Metal Recycling Industries Association (AMRIA)
