ACOR was formed in 1983 as an independent, non-profit, national association for businesses involved in Australia’s recycling industry. It is the industry’s leading industry policy body with a proud history of advocacy for companies delivering innovative solutions to sustainable resource use through product and materials recycling. ACOR’s role is to represent the broad recycling industry which includes businesses that:
- operate materials recovery facilities or recycling centres
- recover and reprocess products or materials
- establish product stewardship systems to arrange for the take-back of end of life products
- manufacture new products using recycled components or materials
- operate symbiotically with other businesses by taking the surplus by-products of that other business and reapplying them for another economic purpose.
ACOR continues to work closely with Government to develop policies that improve resource recovery and support the recycling industry. Members benefit from the Association’s ability to provide representation at the highest levels.
